Puerto Vallarta is one of many Mexican cities to engage in one of the most historic and treasured traditions of the colonial Spanish culture - bullfighting. At Plaza de Toros, just a short walk from the Cruise Ship Pier in Marina Vallarta, the spectacle will take place, as four of Vallarta's finest matadors will take center ring and battle the ferocious bull to the death. The bullfights in Puerto Vallarta feature pomp and pageantry, with the folkloric flair that symbolizes bullfighting in Mexico. Dating back in Spanish tradition as far as 711 A.D., this grand spectacle is viewed in Mexican and Spanish culture as not only a test of courage and bravery by the matador, but as a way to pay tribute to the bull's awesome strength and spirit prior to it's death, as well as a celebration of the cultural ideals regarding machismo. Come and enjoy the spectacle - the costumes, the live music, and of course the epic battle between man and beast! Olé! IMPORTANT: These are real bullfights, not bloodless ones. The four bulls in this event are actually killed. Not recommended for children, or sensitive adults. Please be sure to read the "Our Advice" column at left. Not sure if bullfighting is right for you?
