HOW YOU CAN HELP

We get this question frequently from visitors to Puerto Vallarta who want to give back to the people who have made their vacation such a memorable one, so we've set up this page to help you access the ways that you can help the people and the environment of the Puerto Vallarta Mexico area. 

These agencies depend on donations from individuals, but have very little avenue to obtain them.  Our goal is to help these wonderful people to get the word out about their missions, and their organizations, so others are aware of their noble causes, and can contribute if they choose to.

Puerto Vallarta Area Charities

   

Becas Vallarta, A.C. / America-Mexico Foundation
This organization sponsors low-income kids in Puerto Vallarta, buying school supplies and offering scholarships to promising kids so they can afford to go to college.
 

Casa Hogar Maximo Cornejo Quiroz, A.C.
A local orphanage run by Catholic Nuns, near the bus terminal.  Most of the children come from families who are unable to care adequately for them. Needs include food, hygiene supplies such as soap and shampoo, clothing and toys.
 

International Friendship Club
This local group was set up in 1987 by a group of Canadian and American volunteers, and has grown into one of the areas biggest supporters of charity and non-profit work in several areas.
 

Manos de Amor Por Bahia, A.C.  (Hands of Love by the Bay)
Founded in 2004, the mission of this organization is to help the poor children of the Bucerias area.  Their primary mission is to build an orphanage / shelter in the area to house kids who now have nowhere to go.
 
Pasitos de Luz, Puerto Vallarta Pasitos de Luz (Little Steps of Light)
Provides care for children with any disability from low-income families. It was founded more than fourteen years ago by a group of mothers desperate for a place where they could take their disabled children to receive decent levels of care and attention.
 
Refugio Infantil Santa Esperanza, A.C. (Children's Refuge)
A non-profit shelter for babies and children under the age of 14 who have been turned over by DIF (like Children's Services in the U.S.). Their main objective is to reintegrate these children with their families, but this is not always possible. They give these children a safe and loving place to live because they have no other choice in their lives.
 

Hurricane and Disaster Relief

Cruz Roja Mexicana (Mexican Red Cross)
The Mexican chapter of the International Red Cross, they are the lead agency for all disaster relief efforts in Mexico.  You can donate directly to them, which is best but not as easy, or to the American Red Cross International Response Fund.
